It studied the duck, then reached out with hooked claws and made a swipe at it. "QUAAAACK!" The duck flapped its way to the closed cage door in a terrified frenzy. "No!" Ashlie yelled. "Bad Baro! Leave the Sanduck alone!" She unlocked the cage door, reached in, and yanked out the duck. The bear shrank back in surprise and indignation."

He won't hurt you. You guys are friends!" This last sentence she squealed in uncontainable excitement, and as she did so, she carefully unlatched the door and slipped the duck inside. "QUACK QUACK QUACK," the duck protested, seemingly in disagreement. The bear watched this all with a sort of detached curiosity."

This was no ordinary room, though; it was circular in shape, and cages lined the sides of it. The walls were painted steel gray, and it was lit by a single glass skylight high in the domed roof. The overall effect was rather surreal. The prime focus in it, though, was the large bear that stood on its hind legs in one cage. It turned its large head at the sound of Ashlie approaching."

"Shh it's okay baby," she murmured calmly, though she was fangirling on the inside."
